AbstractInteractive Mapping with GIS Data, Space Imagery, and Lakota Culture Track: K-12 Education and Library Science Author(s): James Rattling Leaf An interactive demonstration developed by Sinte Gleska University as an educational endeavor to ultimately establish the relevance of GIS and related information technolgies with a broad range of learners within the Rosebud Lakota Nation. This demonstration accomplishes the task through maps, space imagery, culture and partnerships. This demonstration is already widely acclaimed as an example of how Native America can better utilize the Spatial and Spectral Technologies. This interactive demo is well received by Indian educators on the Rosebud Lakota Reservation and beyond. Recent comments imply that this demonstration reflects the relevance of technology and culture and is important in adherence to Science Math and Technology educational standards set by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
