Abstract
Extend the Power of GIS Out to the Mobile Workforce

This paper presents the use of GIS by the Mobile Workforce. Viewing geographic data leads to faster comprehension of complex data relationships and assists Dispatchers and Technicians in making informed decisions about the current workload. For Dispatchers a geographic view of data provides fleet and order monitoring, analysis of order assignments and the ability for areas of interest to be marked on the map. Technicians can view their orders and request routing and driving instructions to their orders. Using this technology drive time and missed appointments can be minimized. For both Technicians and Dispatchers a geographic view of data eliminates the need for paper based information exchanges.
