AbstractThe Open Data Consortium Project: Building Consensus on Geographic Data Distribution Policy Track: Metadata and Data Publishing Author(s): Bruce Joffe As each public agency develops its digital geographic information database, it must also develop a data distribution policy to answer such questions as: Should we charge for the data: If so, how much? How should we advertise, fulfill, and service our customers? Meanwhile, private data resellers are trying to negotiate through tan increasing morass of idiosyncratic public policies. Also, Federal and State officials are encouraging acceptance of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) model. An interactive workshop is offered for members of the public, private, and service sectors to formulate a model Data Distribution Agreement.
