AbstractUsing GIS to Evaluate Potential for Pesticide Exposure in the Environment Track: Agriculture Author(s): Steve Kay Traditionally, the potential for environmental exposure to pesticides has been estimated using worst-case scenarios and, while a vital component of an environmental risk-assessment, it has been considered too complex a problem to characterize realistically or in any level of detail. This presentation describes a methodology for characterizing the potential for environmental exposure due to spray drift by acting as a model post-processor that incorporates the real-world into the modeling process. This technique integrates remotely sensed data into a highly automated analysis implemented using ArcGIS and provides results presented in a manner that can be directly incorporated into a risk assessment.
