AbstractSpatial Analysis of Hospital/Patient Relationships Across Transportation Networks Track: Health and Human Services Author(s): James Johnston, Steve Schonhaut Kaiser Permanente serves 8.2 million members in nine states and the District of Columbia. Its largest division is California, with more than 6 million members. The GIS Group in Planning and Analysis uses ArcInfo Network Analysis to examine the spatial relations that exist between ZIP Code-level patient locations and clinical services throughout the California Health Care Network. The planning group developed a custom application with ARC Macro Language (AML) that allows them to determine the closest facility along a road network to each member ZIP Code. The application also provides them with a customized interface for using ArcInfo Location-Allocation analysis to select new facility sites that maximize member access to clinical services.
