Abstract
Integration of GIS Applications into Web-based Environmental Data Management Systems

Large-scale environmental remediation and land redevelopment projects require the acquisition and reporting of numerous data and documents to fully characterize and cleanup polluted properties. Multi-disciplinary project teams from many separate companies must be able to easily access, share and analyze the information collected to complete their interdependent and critical assignments. The development of customized Web-mapping tools using MapObjects and ArcIMS applications that are tightly integrated into a web-based EDMS allows the entire project team to easily and intuitively access and analyze all project data and documents by simply clicking on maps, resulting in rapid and more informed decision making.
