Abstract
Vodafone D2 Radio Analysis and Information Tool with ArcView GIS

D2-RAIT (Radio Analysis and Information Tool) is the main tool used to analyse and optimize the GSM network of German wireless operator Vodafone D2. The application is based on ArcView GIS 3.2a, and its components were developed with Avenue and C++. The main benefit for Vodafone D2 is to have only one tool for the analysis of data from different standard measurement tools and to be able to include specific network data such as sites, cell areas, etc. In order to manage these complex processes different interfaces had to be developed. In addition to several file-based interfaces there is a RPC (Remote Procedure Call) based program interface to the Vodafone D2 network planning tool. The connection to measurement data within MS SQL databases are realized as an ODBC Client. There are many different ways to analyze the GSM network with specific points of view. For example, by the automatic calculation of network statistics or the production of predefined reports. A live demo will be performed during this session.
