AbstractEnvironmental Decision Making: Integrating Analytical and GIS Data Track: Environment Management Author(s): Steven Scherma, Stephen Bolivar, Alison Dorries The Environmental Restoration Project at Los Alamos National Laboratory designed a system for the cradle to grave management, tracking, validation, and storage of the organization's analytical chemistry data. The challenge was to provide a system that would allow project personnel to easily retrieve this analytical data as well as the project's spatial data and provide needed analysis, mapping, and reporting tools on the desktop. The result is the current prototyping of a ArcGIS based environmental-decision management tool that will be integrated to work with the sampling and analytical results tracking system. This paper will explore design issues and challenges faced by the project and how these issues were resolved on both a technical and reengineering level.
