Abstract
Moving Up the Value Chain; Creating Information Products From QuickBird High Resolution Digital Imagery Content

The integration of high resolution satellite imagery into GIS applications has become common across many vertical markets. However, the real value of this emerging information source is the extraction and creation of information products derived from the source imagery. This presentation will discuss the extraction of information content from digital imagery, captured by DigitalGlobe’s QuickBird sensor, such as the creation of high resolution land use/land cover maps, as well as clutter maps for wireless telecommunications applications. The potential incorporation of high resolution satellite imagery into a wide range of mainstream commercial and emerging GIS applications, as well as what the future holds for enhancements to imaging technologies will also be presented.
