San Diego Airport's Infrastructure Management System: What Is to Come?
Track: Transportation
Author(s): Henry (Hank) Peters, Scott Cattran

The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority recently implemented their Infrastructure Data Management Program at the San Diego International Airport, which included the phased approach, consisted of developing a plan, conducting a pilot, and full implementation. One major challenge of creating a new architectural floor plan for Terminal 1 was resolved by using 3D Laser Scan Surveys. The 3D laser scanning provided highly accurate 2D floor plans, while saving time and money over conventional floor plan development. It also provides the foundation for future 3D modeling applications using ArcGIS 3D Analyst and ArcGlobe. The presenter will discuss the lessons learned from the integration of multiple disparate datasets - CADD, GIS, and raster, as well as the issues arising from maintaining and publishing the data via ArcIMS.
