Locating GIS Within the IT Enterprise in Indianapolis/Marion County, Indiana Track: GIS Organization and Management Author(s): Andy Laudick, Dave Mockert, Rick Hammond Since 1986, Indianapolis and Marion County, Indiana, have recognized the value of GIS technology and have invested in it. The GIS effort has grown from creating the IMAGIS consortium to developing GIS staff in individual departments, pooling GIS resources in a common area, contracting with a GIS consultant, and-most recently-bringing GIS staff into a division of the Information Services Agency (ISA). This paper will focus on presenting organizational models that effectively provide GIS services across the IT enterprise.
