Integrating GIS With Core Business Applications: Enterprise GIS for Utilities
Track: Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater
Author(s): Lyann Okada, Scott Cattran

The Honolulu Board of Water Supply (HBWS) completed Phase I of their ArcIMS application called the Honolulu Online Utilities (HONU) in 2002. This application serves GIS information to over 200 users across eight different departments, received a Special Achievement Award in GIS from Esri, and was a featured cover story of Public Works Magazine. HONU is a true example of a working Enterprise GIS - one that integrates GIS, document management and customer billing. This presentation highlights the phase II enhancements which include enhanced reporting tools, linking to Microsoft Outlook, linking to the City and County's Permitting application, and red-lining tools for data maintenance. This presentation will be beneficial to anyone who is contemplating Enterprise GIS planning.
