 City, County, and School Analysis Using ArcGIS Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Mel Obbink Traditional methods required long tedious work with #2 pencil and legal yellow tablets. Software advances allow users to graphically see the result and probably problem areas. The non-user can easily see the result in an understandable format. A picture is worth a thousand words. This paper presents the development of a graphical display using ArcGIS as the analysis tool, while incorporating data from AS400 applications as well as PC applications. It provides possibility thinking outside the box in the analysis of City planning, zoning, economic development, crime analysis, GPS for utility facilities, County planning of rural subdivisions, upgrading of current zoning regulations, future roads developments, and schools analyzing their bus routing, and desiring 500 pupil buildings to be centrally located.
