Road Map to Develop a Real-Time Web-Based Mapping Application Track: New Technology and System Integration Author(s): Stuart Katz, Xiaodong Hong Internet is an effective tool to distribute data to a large group of users. To effectively display and distribute mapping data on the web, many organizations use ArcIMS technology. Based on a real-time web-based mapping project conducted jointly by Andrew Corporation and Avineon Inc., this paper focuses on methodology and lessons learned in developing web-based mapping application using Microsoft .NET, ArcIMS, and Oracle database. The paper also addresses challenges in processing, querying, and displaying real-time data in the context of web-based mapping.
