ArcAEM: GIS-Based Interface for Analytic Element Groundwater Model Track: Water Resources Author(s): Warit SilavisEsrith, Douglas Flewelling ArcAEM is a GIS-based GUI developed to facilitate analytic element groundwater model (AEM) construction and output visualization within ArcGIS. In AEM method, hydrogeologic features such as streams and lakes are represented as elements. Recent advances enable the solution of models with large number of elements over regional scales. Such large models require automated techniques to translate hydrologic base maps into model features. ArcAEM serves as a bridge between ArcGIS and AEM model (SPLIT). The application enables user to convert existing geographical datasets into analytic elements. It facilitates entries and storages of element specifications within the GIS dataset. ArcAEM provides means to feed the geographical data to the model, to automate and monitor the iterative model execution, and to import model results into ArcGIS. In addition, ArcAEM also provides customized simplification tools, model integrity check, and topology tools which enable detection of conflicts between elements and maintenance the connection between them.
