2004 UC Proceedings Abstract
Streamlining Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Track: Environmental Management Author(s): Saad Mohalfi, Mohammed Bukhari, Tony Gale, Robert Prentice The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PME) conducted a series of comprehensive Monitoring and Assessment Studies of Coastal, Marine and Terrestrial Environments, and Public Health to determine damages resulting from the 1991 Gulf War. Due to the substantial project scope that involved studying areas covering thousands of kilometers, the Presidency identified an enterprise GIS approach deploying ArcPad, ArcIMS, ArcSDE, and ArcGIS to streamline data collection, management, and reporting. This strategy allowed PME to successfully respond to extensive critical reporting requirements within a highly compressed schedule.
