2004 UC Proceedings Abstract
Address Management From a Spatial Focus Track: System Implementation for GIS Author(s): Glendon Morgan, Brian Sovik The City of Boynton Beach developed a mission and a strategic vision for GIS in year 2000. The city had traditionally managed address information in a legacy database in a non-spatial format until 2003. With a mature and comprehensive GIS department now in place and data being shared enterprise-wide, addressing with Esri technology was the next logical step. In the past year the city has undertaken the merger of GIS with address maintenance and has experienced challenges as well as many successful experiences on the way. By leveraging legacy address information the city is now working directly through GIS to keep addresses up to date. To accomplish goals for data management, data editing, and geographic analysis, the city chose Esri GIS software.
