Progress of the Geospatial One-Stop Initiative at USDOT Track: Federal Government Systems Author(s): Mark Bradford The Bureau of Transportation Statistics is the federal lead for the transportation theme within the Geospatial One-Stop e government initiative. Working with members of the transportation community we have developed draft transportation geospatial data content standards, a Web portal to provide easier access to these data from various sources, and posted information about planned Federal geospatial data collection activities to encourage partnerships. This initiative will have a positive impact on the GIS community by promoting standards, data accessibility, and collaboration. We anticipate the private sector will develop tools to take advantage of these standardized geospatial data to better serve government agencies and the public. We will present information about the open standards-based Web portal developed for transportation data.
