The Building of Environmental Geographic Information System Track: Environmental Management Author(s): Deokho Cho, MinKi Bae The goal of this study is to build a GIS for environmental policy making. In order to do that, this study first surveys local environmental status. Based upon these environmental data, it forecasts the future environmental status of each city in Gyeongbook province and generates geo-referencing code on these data. Using these data, finally it builds up the future environmental geographic information system for supporting the environmental policymaking. This study consists of three major parts: development of environmental indicators based on DPSER mechanism, establishment of environmental indicator database on local level, and building up environmental policy supporting information system. The results of this study will contribute to establish a warning system to prevent an excess of environmental capacity and to provide the framework and standard for integrating various environmental database with local GIS.
