Development and Application of Mineral Potential Mapping Techniques
Track: Mining and Geosciences
Author(s): Saro Lee

Techniques for mineral resources management, assessment, and prediction must be developed for the exploitation of the mineral resources. To enable this, data sets related to mineral resources must be constructed and analyzed. For this, a spatial database including topographic, geologic, geophysical and geochemical and satellite imagery data was constructed using GIS. Using the constructed spatial database, mineral potential was analyzed by probabilistic and statistical models. The mineral potential maps were verified and compared using mining location data. A GIS was used to efficiently analyze the vast amount of data, and a probabilistic and statistical models turned out to be an effective tool in analyzing the mineral potential.
