2004 UC Proceedings Abstract
Web Boundary and Annexation Survey Track: ArcWeb Services Author(s): Barbara Taylor The U.S. Census Bureau and the Open GIS Consortium conducted a pilot project using a Web-based application for the Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS), a survey that collects the boundaries and attributes for legal governments in the United States. The WebBAS pilot demonstrated that the Census Bureau could collect boundary updates by implementing a combination of survey and GIS digitizing techniques using the Internet. The WebBAS application provided users with the ability to update and review boundary text data, such as legal authorizations for boundary changes. It also provided a Web-based capability to immediately make an update to the entity boundary, such as adding territory to a jurisdiction. This presentation will provide the results and feedback from the pilot project.
