Improving Access: Setting a Geodatabase With TIGER Data Track: Metadata and Data Publishing Author(s): Ricardo Ruiz The Census Bureau is conducting market research and evaluating alternatives to its current TIGER database environment. Its overall objective is to migrate TIGER to a new processing environment by the year 2006. The Geography Division (GEO) is responsible for the creation and maintenance of the TIGER database. GEO has been working on a proof of concept prototype using Oracle9i and an ArcGIS geodatabase. The prototype's goals are to provide GEO staff with experience using Oracle tools and Esri geodatabase and examine Esri geodatabase as an alternative to serve up TIGER data. This paper describes the geodatabase prototype and reports on the project's results.
