2004 UC Proceedings Abstract
An Alternate Approach to Address Creation and Maintenance Track: Application Development Author(s): Neil Nikkinen, Jay Arnold Some two years ago the Hernando County Florida Property Appraiser's Office assembled a group of GIS Stakeholders composed of a wide variety of county, municipal and state government offices and agencies. The purpose of this meeting was to advise the attendees of the current status of the Property Appraiser's base map and to discuss the future of the GIS system in Hernando County. It was determined that the greatest common factor that affected every department and agency in one form or another was the county's addressing system. The concerns were that it had not kept pace with technological advances and that it was not a singular centrally maintained system that affected departments and agencies could access electronically. The Property Appraiser's Office selected 3001 Inc. who was contracted to migrate legacy data, create address point data, create geocoded centerline attributes from existing address data and to establish centerline directions in ArcGIS.
