GIS for Underground Network
Track: Electric and Gas
Author(s): Marco Antônio Afonso

São Paulo possesses one of the world's largest underground networks for energy distribution. The system is formed by four parallel primary circuits and four underground transformers feeding the secondary circuits comprising a grid or ring. The Underground GIS project was initiated and accomplished with IMAGEM in October 2002. It was started with the data modeling step, customization for business track, development of the conversion process for all electric circuits, assets and devices, as well as all material training for end-users. In October 2003 the final conversion and full deployment of the system was carried out, providing a powerful tool for visualization, research, data updating, including a tracing tool for all structures of electric construction for inspection and analysis of duct banks and circuits, printing maps with better quality.
