 Pearland, Texas and Enterprise Wide GIS Track: GIS Organization and Management Author(s): Mike Masters, James Kelt Using the model "7 Keys to a successful GIS", Esri software products, GPS technology, and an aggressive mindset, the GIS department continues to maintain a progressive enterprise wide GIS within the City of Pearland. Pearland, Texas has been in the forefront of GIS for the past four years. By utilizing all aspects of Esri's GIS technology, a successful GIS implementation plan, custom GIS software based on MapObjects and GPS technology, the City has been able to provide City departments, as well as the public, with a state-of-the-art GIS. All of these technologies have enabled the City to make the City of Pearland a safer, efficient, and more productive place to live. Pearland continues to find new ways of expanding the GIS and hopes to share the successes with other agencies throughout the country.
