Architectures for a Defense Installation Spatial Data Infrastructure (DISDI) Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Daniel Feinberg The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Defense Installation Spatial Data Infrastructure (DISDI) aims to synchronize existing GIS investments across the military departments' respective installation and environment domains to concurrently satisfy Federal, DoD, service, and installation mission needs. The DISDI will leverage Federal geospatial data and metadata standards, as well as Federal enterprise architecture and interoperability guidelines to meet installation visualization, mapping, and geospatial analysis requirements. Additionally, the DISDI architecture incorporates personnel and business processes to ensure sustainment of current, trusted defense installation geospatial information. This presentation will introduce the DISDI concept, address DISDI architecture strategies across the DoD, and share lessons learned in recent months from DISDI development and deployment efforts to date.
