2004 UC Proceedings Abstract
Wisconsin's Enterprise GIS Initiatives Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Jerry Sullivan, Curtis Pulford Wisconsin has evolved new structures for governance of statewide Information Technology (IT). These include the Technology Leadership Council (TLC), and the Business Leadership Council (BLC). Seven Information Domains have been chartered: Network, Server Platform, IT Management, Information Security & Privacy, Desktop Platform, Applications, and Information. TLC Working Groups were also created, including Directory, Disaster Recovery, E-Receipts, and the GIS Working Group. The GISWG joined the existing Wisconsin Land Information Board (WLIB) and the Wisconsin Land Council (WLC) in coordination endeavors. GISWG is examining and update existing enterprise GIS standards, emerging standards from Geospatial One-Stop, Federal Geographic Data Committee, Open GIS Consortium, and best practices exemplified by Arc Geo data models. Such standards are essential for numerous statewide initiatives: the WLIP Parcel Assessment and Tax Data application, the statewide Voter Registration System, the Public Health Information Network, Emergency Management and Homeland Security initiatives, Food Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness, and many more.
