2004 UC Proceedings Abstract
Your Gateway to Neighborhood Level Census Data and Maps Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Chris Jansen Working in coordination with Seattle/King County Public Health staff and the Seattle/King County Making Connections Foundation (http://www.mcskc.org/), the King County GIS Center developed an ArcIMS site (http://www.metrokc.gov/health/datamaps/) to map and display census data depicting the health of the White Center and Boulevard Park neighborhoods. The primary goals of the site are to introduce residents, students, and professionals to Web-based GIS tools, portray neighborhood demographic health factors based on Census 2000 data, and offer a streamlined method for downloading Census 2000 data for use in grant writing or other activities. The Census data have been statistically qualified to show upper and lower confidence intervals, where appropriate, and charted against King County and State of Washington values.
