2004 UC Proceedings Abstract
Putting GIS to Work in King County: Creating a Successful GIS Education Program Track: Education Author(s): Cheryl Wilder Our vision at the KCGIS Training Group is to provide ongoing and relevant GIS education to current and potential GIS community members. We empower them to be proactive spatial thinkers who can visualize data, support better decision-making, and deliver superior public service using GIS tools. During this presentation we will explore and discuss key concepts vital to creating an ongoing, self-supporting GIS Education Program, which will support a wide variety of GIS users and work in harmony with an organization's software migration plan. We will discuss all the elements such as adult teaching methods, IT training facilities, scheduling, registration, promotion, cost recovery, and continuous ongoing improvement techniques (CANI) that will attract the right students to your GIS Education Program.
