Development of GIS for Niche Model Analysis of Protected Species
Track: Education
Author(s): Roxanne Broadway

The Center for Conservation Biology at the University of California, Riverside, in association with the California Department of Fish & Game and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, is developing a species monitoring protocol and niche model analysis for species listed under the California and U.S. Endangered Species Acts and "species of concern" located in western Riverside County and the Coachella Valley. This report describes the development of the geodatabase that was designed for this project and a customized application that was created to simplify the pre-processing of the geospatial data for output to a multivariate analysis for quantification of habitat suitability.
