FM GeoWeb Common Access to Maps for Swedish Armed Forces Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Patrik Bremborg, Göran Mårtenson The vision of a network based defense will cause a transformation of the role and organization of the spatial data infrastructure. Introducing the Swedish Armed Forces GeoWeb platform will increase the access and use of geographic information. Fast access to a common situational picture is critical in the context of a network-based defense. The centrally hosted map service FM GeoWeb will drastically facilitate dissemination and use of geographic information within the Swedish Armed Forces. FM GeoWeb is a key component in realizing the goal of a common situational picture where everyone has access to updated, common geographic information, regardless of whether the end-user is using a Web browser, ArcView, or any other system. FM GeoWeb has been built using ArcIMS and storage in ArcSDE/Oracle. The presentation will cover the contents and future plans for the GeoWeb platform as a key component in building the Swedish Armed Forces' spatial data infrastructure.
