Abstract
Expanding the Horizons of Youth and Communities: 4H GIS/GIS Technology Teams Track: Education Author(s): Tom Tate This paper recounts the success of 4H GIS\GIS Technology Teams that are supported by USDA and Esri. These teams encourage young people to understand and contribute to their communities and environment by using GIS and GPS. For the past four years this voluntary program has gained substantial support from Esri, other major corporations, universities, and local communities across the nation. Two featured projects are the mapping of park resources in St. Louis and the creation of the Youth's Favorite Places internet mapping site.
