Abstract
Internet-Based Spatial Decision Support System with Real-Time Wireless Mobile GIS Track: Disaster Mangagement and Emergency Response Author(s): Ming-Hsiang Tsou The development of Internet GIS provides an easy and flexible approach to access spatial decision support systems (SDSS). However, on major problem of Web-based SDSS is the lack of direct feedback or near real-time connection between high-level spatial decision makers and multiple in-field human agents (like policemen, fire fighters, or park rangers). This paper will introduce an integrated framework by combining Web GIS and wireless Mobile GIS for spatial decision support systems. On-line data warehouse will be implemented for sharing and exchanging GIS/remote sensing data created/collected through the whole San Diego County and the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) clearinghouses. The development and testing of mobile GIS components with wireless technologies will provide in-field agents or officers real-time information and wireless communication channels to access critical maps, imagery and to update geospatial information via wireless channels.
