Abstract
![]() GIS and Transportation Planning in Utah Track: Transportation Author(s): Thomas McMurtry As a GIS Technician at a transportation planning firm I use GIS everyday. The ability to display spatial data in a format that our clients can understand is of great value to us and them. We use GIS to create maps in three main categories--growth of each region, existing conditions, and future conditions. Within each of these categories we make several different types of maps including: population growth, employment growth, land use maps, transit route maps, zoning maps, traffic signal maps, functional classification maps, level of service maps, trails maps, planned road improvements, and more.
