Abstract
![]() City of Santa Ana Integrates GIS in Drainage Inventory Analysis Track: Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater Author(s): Jonathan Posner, Joe Parco For a Proposition 13 grant, CDM is assisting the City of Santa Ana in developing a drainage facility inspection, GIS inventory, and source control program to enhance the permit-required drainage facility cleaning program. The project rests on the development of a GIS database with drainage facility and industrial facility information, development of a drain inspection and debris measurement component, incorporation of inspection information into the GIS database, analysis of drain cleaning and inspection data, and a targeted source reduction program. The ultimate objective is to reduce sediment loads, trash, debris, nutrients, and metals in storm water originating from nonpoint sources in the City of Santa Ana in order to protect beneficial uses of priority waters of the state. Measurements of success for this program include identification of heavy accumulation areas and corresponding Best Management Practices (BMPs) that can be implemented to reduce the volume of materials discharged.
