Abstract
![]() The Indiana Water Quality Atlas Track: Application Development Author(s): John Buechler, Neil Devadasan The Indiana Water Quality Atlas (IWQA) (http://www.in.gov/idem/iwqa/) is a collaborative project to create a web-based interactive atlas of water quality related data and information. The IWQA integrates the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) water quality sampling (AIMS) database and 305B Assessment database for restoring impaired waters. Where possible, the IWQA serves up the data directly from the source by integrating existing GIS web data services rather than duplicate the data. By accessing this data, the distributed GIS Internet technology reduces the requirement for multiple copies of the data and eliminates confusion as to the best available data source. Currently the IWQA serves data from the Indiana Geological Survey (IGS) GIS Atlas of Indiana and multiple servers residing at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). The application is currently being migrated to add data directly from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) servers.
