Abstract
 Horry County's Enterprise GIS: From Vision to Reality Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Timothy Oliver Horry County's approach to new application implementation defines term "enterprise GIS". The County's aggressive rollout of new GIS centric technology includes field based data collection and web based components for all new applications. A County owned fiber infrastructure (86 miles) will support the GIS centric initiatives underway. Cities will have access to the county's data, and will be editing jurisdiction specific data via the county's WAN. The new Public Safety Solution will read directly from its SDE databases. The County has selected a vendor for Call Center, work order management, maintenance, parks and recreation, stormwater, public works and engineering solution. Also budgeted for 2005 are GIS centric solutions for Register of Deeds, Assessment, (CAMA), and Land Development. From vision to reality, Horry County's GIS centric approach to Enterprise GIS confirms the IT/GIS philosophy of "Today's innovations empowering decisions for the future."
