Abstract
Visual Analysis for Site Selection Geothermal Power Plant in Namafjall Track: Environmental Management Author(s): Younes Noorollahi Visual perception is an important component of environmental quality. Visual quality may be diminished with loss of naturalness and the imposition of man-made structures. In a geothermal projects project the power house is the main structure and they will have the best visual impacts. The paper will analyze the visibility of three alternate power plant sites in the Namafjall geothermal field in north Iceland. Fifteen meters is assumed for the power plant height and 1.6 meters for the viewers height. A 90 MW geothermal power plant will be built in Namafjall field, and the analysis results show that site A is the least visible compared to sites B and C. In Site A the power plant with a height of 15 meters is visible from only 27% of the study area.
