Abstract
Mobile Radiation Detection for WMD Response Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Thea Philliou As the first tier of a combined civil and military response to a WMD event, the 2nd WMD Civil Support Team uses a Mobile Detection System to detect and locate threatening radiation sources, by ground or air space. Real time data from the detector is brought into ArcMap/ArcView via Tracking Analyst plug in and custom tool bar in ArcMap. The mission can be controlled remotely. RDD hazard plume models, representative of radiological contamination, can be generated and exported to ArcMap and viewed simultaneously with real time sensor data, allowing models to be instantly confirmed or denied at an incident. The data can be rendered three dimensionally and viewed in ArcGlobe. Three dimensional surfaces can be created from any of the radiation detector channels, using the ArcGIS Spatial Analyst extension. Threat domes are generted and used in the creation of egress routes and an interagency response plan. Thea Philliou Thermo Electron Environmental Instruments Division 1 Sachem Rd.
