Abstract
![]() Using GIS in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Data Management Track: Environmental Management Author(s): Sergio Henricy, Ed Stewart Clayton Group Services has been providing OHS services for more than 50 years. Our 21 offices offer OHS services that require field inspections; sampling; data collection; analysis; and reporting on asbestos, lead based paint, noise levels, and air quality for numerous clients. Large amounts of data generated need to be presented in paper reports that include verbal analyses, result tables, and data distribution graphics. Strong spatial components in OHS data collection and analysis and the amount of data generated brought focus on GIS and relational databases to minimize and streamline data collection efforts, report production times, and information management and to enhance data presentation and analysis. Successful coupling of turnkey database applications with GIS map services enables virtual access and analysis of project data, increases productivity, and generates savings and more defensible data for clients. The model naturally extends into facility management services.
