Abstract
![]() Using Web-Based GIS to Improve EPA Permit and Grant Submissions Track: Federal Government Systems Author(s): Danette Boezio, James Sinnott, Anne Marie Miller, Jay Rineer, Tod Dabolt Many U.S. EPA programs need to collect locational data from a diverse group of partners. Whether submitting a stormwater permit application through the Electronic Notice of Intent (eNOI) system or applying for nonpoint source or Beaches Environmental Assessment and Coastal Health Act grants, EPA requires the submission of the spatial location of the site or study area. Under contract with EPA, RTI International developed the Web-based Reach Indexing Tool (WebRIT) to allow permit applicants, grant writers, and others to quickly, easily, and accurately determine and record these locations. The WebRIT is an ArcIMS application that provides a customized interface to each user, is tightly integrated with EPA Central Data Exchange (CDX) data flows such as eNOI, and has the ability to store locations in a central database. This paper will discuss how the WebRIT is helping improve the process and accuracy of EPA permit applications and grant submissions.
