Abstract
4-H Youth Favorite Places National Mapping Project Track: Education Author(s): Tom Tate 4-H Youth GIS Tech Teams present this activity which is designed to help teach youth about GIS/GPS as well as provide a service to their community. This is a new National 4-H Project that can be implemented in every 4-H club, camp, and program. Goals of the YFP Project are for youth to learn about key natural resources and community cultural and recreational sites; share and promote favorite local natural resources and cultural and recreational sites; visit the favorite places of other youth when on interstate exchanges, field trips, and vacations; participate in building a national database as a 4-H community service project; and learn new skills, such as use of GPS receivers and Digital Cameras, photo editing, database use and entry, map reading, background research, technical writing, collaboration, and team work.
