Abstract
![]() Water and Sewer Enterprise GIS Deployment in the Jersey Pinelands Track: Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater Author(s): Stephen Blankenship, Louis Rodriguez This paper will present the implementation of a water and sewer enterprise GIS at the Hamilton Township Municipal Utilities Authority (HTMUA), provider of water and sewer services for Hamilton Township, New Jersey's largest municipality (113 square miiles). Hamilton is one of the most diverse municipalities in NJ with a thriving commercial district and growing residential population; however, 97 percent of its land area is located within the NJ Pinelands. The project involved the design and creation of a water and sewer geodatabase from various sources including engineering CAD drawings, existing GIS shapefiles, as-built drawings, and GPS survey data. Data and applications are deployed to administrative and operations staff via a web-based ArcIMS application. The data and GIS application are maintained at a private hosting facility thereby eliminating the need to procure any additional hardware, software, or technical staff. The project also involved extensive coordination with various state, county, and local agencies.
