Abstract
 GIS Aids Occupational Licenses Utilizing Mobile Technology Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Glendon Morgan The City of Boynton Beach is a rapidly growing local government municipal with an increasing demand for new business. Traditionally the process to grant licenses was to go to the new place of business for quality inspection such as Fire inspection, zoning permits, and building permits with a collection of field notes. After the gathering of information the data has to be verified internally, which delays the process. With a mature and comprehensive GIS department now in place and data being collected enterprise-wide, Mobile GIS with the use of GIS technology has proven to be more efficient. After the successful implementation of GIS, the City of Boynton Beach has capitalize on the powerful new advantages of the real-time enterprise--accelerating revenue growth, productivity, operational efficiency and profitability to make faster, better decisions utilizing GIS technology.
