![]() How a Completely Custom .NET/ArcIMS/ArcObjects Solution for Economic Development Can Do Things That May Surprise You Track: Application Development Author(s): Stuart Blankenship, Aric Mueller The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) has been using GIS to assist in its economic development efforts since 1996. An ArcIMS viewer has been available on the www.yesvirginia.org Web site as part of VEDP's VirginiaScan application for several years. The ArcIMS portion of VirginiaScan zooms to a selected site or building and allows the user to display layers including aerial photography and National Geographic TOPO imagery. VEDP is currently working to greatly enhance the spatial aspect of VirginiaScan using ArcIMS and the .NET environment. The new application will allow the user to create a radius and select demographic, business, and quality of life information. Users will also be able to locate sites and buildings based on the available workforce. Tools are also being created using .NET and ArcObjects for VEDP employees to automatically create standard map products. This presentation will demonstrate all of these tools as well as the development process. Stuart Blankenship VEDP GIS 901 E.
