Abstract
ArcIMS for Geospatially-Enabled Water Resources Planning and Watershed Management Track: Water Resources Author(s): Lisa Pierce, Shil Niyogi The Water Resources Institute at California State University at San Bernardino, in conjunction with Nobel Systems, has implemented the ArcIMS 9 Metadata Service capabilities to improve the outreach and data-sharing opportunities for this region's water resources related data. WRI's archives include extensive imagery and water related documents that can be further integrated into a geospatial search engine. Nobel Systems has helped develop a link between the WRI's archival system using SQL Server to enable the WRI library databases and connect with ArcSDE. To support a geospatial search capability, a tool that will help all water agencies in contributing and retrieving data from this repository was developed. This paper will outline the challenges faced, approaches and strategies for this implementation.
