![]() Implementing Row-Level Security for ArcIMS Track: Application Development Author(s): Christina Atienza, Giedrius Praspaliauskas The subject of this presentation is the implementation of the access control in the ArcIMS software-based applications using Oracle row level security features, ArcSDE, and Oracle user authentication system. ArcIMS controls access to the mapping services using ACL as file or database table. In some cases we need to control user access at the feature level which isn't currently available within the same mapping service. In the presentation I will discuss a data access control that was implemented using Oracle row level security feature together with ArcSDE. Feature level data access was provided through ArcIMS. This authorization approach allows administration of data access using standard Oracle tools. All changes become available to the ArcIMS users immediately. Users can manage access to their own data through a Web interface, and each map generated by the system contains data available to the requestor only.
