Abstract
![]() ArcGIS Server Solutions for Ranges Safety in the USMC Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Carlos Hathcock, Daniel Levine, David Brooks The Safety Office of the Training and Education Command (TECOM) of the U.S. Marine Corps has been using an ArcGIS desktop solution, the Range Managers Toolkit (RMTK), for creating and managing Surface Danger Zones (SDZ) for live fire training exercises. TECOM had also invested in a robust ArcIMS site that distributed GIS views for all Training Ranges. The desire was to begin migrating the desktop GIS tools used by TECOM to the ArcIMS system. The first application migrated was the SDZ component of the RMTK, specifically creating SDZs, managing the SDZ Library, and creating printable maps of each SDZ function. This presentation will describe how ArcGIS Server, ASP .NET, and ArcSDE were used to provide this SDZ functionality through the existing ArcIMS interface. We will discuss systems integration issues, lessons learned, and plans for additional application migrations.
