Abstract
Integrating GIS into the Chesapeake Bay Program's Enterprise Architecture Track: System Implementation for GIS Author(s): Andy Fitch, Brian Burch, John Wolf The Chesapeake Bay Program (CBP) is a unique regional partnership that has led and directed the restoration of the Chesapeake Bay since 1983. The CBP Data Center has been involved in all facets of information management and information technology since the Program's beginnings. Data Center activities have generally included data management, data dissemination, supporting a suite of environment models, data analysis, and geospatial analysis and mapping. Although GIS has played a key role in Chesapeake Bay restoration efforts, geospatial data development, dissemination, and analyses have traditionally been handled outside the realm of other facets of CBP information technology. This presentation will explore the past, present and future of CBP's geospatial activities. The focus will be on current geospatial implementation and management activities, including the integration of GIS within the existing and target CBP enterprise architecture and the opportunities and challenges associated with that integration.
