Abstract
![]() GIS Software, Concepts and Data in Support of Avionic Systems Track: Transportation Author(s): Ziv Goldenberg This paper will present the usage of Esri software, GIS concepts, and GIS data in support of avionic systems, specifically digital moving map systems and aeronautical data for the aviation industry. The paper will cover three main subjects. First, an introduction to airborne moving map systems and their resemblance and differences to GIS systems will be covered. Second, GIS data and concepts used in moving map systems will be covered. Specifically, digital vector information will be addressed, including aeronautical information (e.g., Jeppesen--NavDATA), Airport mapping data (AMDB), various weather data and other vector data (e.g., DCW). Third, usage of GIS software for supporting mission planning and preparation for the aircraft will be presented. Ziv Goldenberg Elbit Systems Ltd.
